The new egg mobile has been constructed. In the past we have moved the hens from their winter quarters surrounding the gardens to there summer quarters in the front field. The summer home was a 20 by 20 greenhouse frame that could be moved in the front pasture. To allow the hens to traverse more of our 88 acre farm we have constructed two mobile chicken houses which consist of a 7 ft by 20 ft and 6 ft by 10 ft stock trailer with slatted floor, roosts, and automated watering system. It is a great addition to the farm and will allow for the hens to help assist us in pasture management as we grow our operation. They do this while creating the highest quality egg you can find. This quality is due to the large amount of green material and natural vegetation they find on the farm in addition to the local organic grains we feed. They don’t spend much time in their new mobile but it does protect them and give them a place to roost at night. During the day they will be out and about. You may find cage free eggs or even free range eggs in the store, but you can not verify that the hens have access to GREENS. It is these greens that are responsible for that beautiful deep yellow to orange yolk that stands out as different.
