Since it is so important for us at This Old Farm to develop partnerships aimed at promoting education and training in agricultural production, we sent Lucas Roosa, our Farm to Fork Manager, to Colombia’s Orniquia Region for two weeks to teach pig producers how to add value to their pork through making artisanal ham and other products to grow their markets. He is there now working hard!
In partnership with Purdue University and the University of Los Llanos, Lucas is participating in the Farmer-to-farmer program, doing hands-on demonstrations and giving technical assistance in agricultural production methods to small and medium pork producers with very low incomes and profitability.
The goal of the program is to promote sustainable improvements in food security and agricultural processing, production and marketing.
