Farming Is Tough
This Old Farm started with livestock farming; We understand farming at our core.
This Old Farm
Our Livestock Farming Story
We feel your pain. Farming is hard and our road to farming success has come with its speed bumps. We bounced back when our barn burned down, when we lost all our sheep to parasites and have struggled trying to predict when our pasture raised animals will be ready to go to harvest. This Old Farm started as a small farm with a drive to contribute healthy food to our community. Through the years, our family farm has raised pastured chickens, pastured pork, grass-fed dairy cows, and beef. After trial and error we decided grass-fed Katahdin sheep were the best fit for our farm. The Farm currently has 250 ewes and a goal of raising 600 lambs per year to sell for breeding stock, live animal sales, whole and half lamb orders, Halal markets, and by the pound at one of our Butcher Shops. To keep our sheep safe we also raise a new line of Anatolian Shepherds for guardian dogs.
We also work with a partnership of local farms to provide the best meats possible. Read about some of our partner farms below. We buy livestock from some and we service process for others that have their own markets.
