Summer of 2017 has been fun-filled and action packed with the 4-H County Fairs! Many of our staff and their family and friends, as well as local farmers and local food enthusiasts have been enjoying the county fairs. We’ve been working hard to get pork patties, barbecue, and cutletts ready to be cooked up and served at the Pork Producers tent this week, July 22-29 at the Tippecanoe County 4-H Fair. Make sure to stop by their tent for some delicious pork products!
We also have a booth at the Boone County State Fair this week, July 22-28, so you can check us out and learn more about our variety of meats and processing options. We also had booths at the Clinton and Hendricks County 4-H Fairs the past several weeks. Kristy Miller, our Farm to Market Assistant, Brandon Peacock, a member of our sales team and Morgan Springer, our farm supervisor and value-added goods assistant have been out there meeting folks and sharing the latest information about This Old Farm. We are expanding and growing like never before! Last year 50 new farmers joined us for business after we had booths at the fairs. This Old Farm is a proud supporter of 4-H, sponsoring various 4-H activities, and we have seen some amazing accomplishments this year!
In Indiana, 4-H can be found in all 92 counties through Purdue Extension. 4-H prepares young people to be leaders in their community through agricultural activities offered in community clubs, afterschool programs, school enrichment, camps/workshops, and special interest programs, encouraging the next generation of farmers and local food producers.
