Saturday marked the start to our educational CSA but their is still time to get involved. I enjoyed being with a great group of individuals all interested in sustainable farming. At the end of our workshop some left, some picked strawberries, and some took home the first of the CSA share. The box consisted of……..
salad greens, rhubarb, 2 quarts of strawberries, spring onions, asparagus or kale, and an herb pack
The quantity of asparagus was just enough to add to stir fry or your favorite soup. The salad greens can be enjoyed during a few different meals. The strawberries and rhubarb are calling to be paired together in a simple crisp to follow a meal where I hope you utilize the spring onions and herbs to acccompany This Old Farm Meats. As my husband said just this week, “Cooking is easy if you have good ingredients.” Wow was I happy when he said that, as we had been through a week where the gardens beckoned me and I did not take the time to prep a weeks worth of food as I often do. This left him to cook for himself and the kids when I was at market. I was so thankful that he was able to cook with little previous experience other than seeing what a good meal should look like. It is all in the food we keep in the kitchen. I hope you enjoy having food raised by local farms including ours!
