• 1 pound ground beef
• 2 celery ribs, chopped
• 1 tablespoon chopped onion
• 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
• 1 tablespoon brown sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
• 3/4 cup ketchup
• 6 hamburger buns, split
• 6 ounces Swiss, Cheddar, or Jack cheese, shredded
In a large skillet, cook the beef, celery and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the flour, brown sugar, mustard and ketchup.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon meat onto bun bottom and top with shredded cheese. Allow cheese to melt slightly, add bun top.
Serve with tomato slices on a large lettuce or Swiss chard leaf. Sprinkle tomato slices lightly with sea salt, seasoned salt, or onion powder.
Yield: 6 servings.
Hope an Anderson area ‘pickup’ is established in the future. 🙂
